Did you know that last year more than $380 million dollars were raised in the U.S. on #GivingTuesday? Created as an opportunity to tap into the post-Black Friday & Cyber Monday buying guilt, the impact of this online giving campaign has increased every year since it began. Even if your nonprofit has never participated, here are a few quick tips to help you prepare:
- Save the date. This year Giving Tuesday falls on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.
- Announce it. Share the news about your Giving Tuesday campaign with your staff, volunteers, donors, clients and supporters through your website, email newsletters and social media channels. You’ll want to do this in the 2-6 weeks before 12/3.
- Invite others to help. Ask a group of core supporters and ambassadors to help get the word out. You may want to share some suggested messages & images, to help make it easier for them to share the info with their friends and family.
- Be authentic! Use images and messages that represent who you serve and the impact of what you do.
