Lessons From April
As April draws to a close and the welcome warmth of spring settles in, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the key lessons learned this past month.
A defining theme was undoubtedly curiosity. We constantly challenge ourselves to approach every task with inquisitive minds. This involved everything from developing innovative creative concepts and exploring diverse perspectives to brainstorming unconventional strategies for community engagement and reaching new audiences. This spirit of inquiry proved vital. It fueled continuous research and fostered a willingness to experiment, allowing us to learn valuable lessons not only from successes but also by identifying areas for improvement.
April also proved to be a great time for launching new initiatives and gaining fresh perspectives on uncharted territory. It was invigorating to explore the many opportunities within the Houston community and infuse them with our distinctive BOTM touch: creating authentically rooted stories that highlight the best of our community. This process opened the door for meaningful conversations across the community and continually pushed us to discover innovative ways to connect and engage.
A particular highlight this month was the successful planning and execution of our annual Latinas In Education Community Event. The event was a resounding success, a direct result of our team’s meticulous planning, dedication, and unwavering commitment to fostering a safe and empowering space. Here, Latinas and all women could openly discuss education and connect with crucial resources. We’re incredibly proud of the positive impact created and eager to keep education at the forefront.
On a more bittersweet note, April brought a transition. We bid farewell to our amazing Social Media Coordinator and Latina Leadership Podcast Co-host, Grace Hernandez, as she embarks on her next venture. While we’ll miss her greatly, we wish her fair winds. Grace’s time at BOTM was marked by significant contributions; she was instrumental in developing impactful social media strategies, gathering key campaign insights, and bringing a critical, creative perspective to how we engage and represent our community online. Her dedication truly shaped our digital presence.
And so, we close the April chapter, filled with anticipation for the experiences and opportunities May holds. We look forward to embracing the coming month while continuing our commitment, as always, to being deeply rooted in the stories that define our community.
